About this Role

The Storage Migration Engineer will be responsible for planning, preparing, executing, and validating large‑scale File (NAS) and Object Storage migrations across datacenters. The role involves close coordination with platform teams, vendors, and change management functions, ensuring migrations are executed safely, compliantly, and in line with Client SOPs and governance standards.

In this Role, You Will:

  • Define and govern end‑to‑end File and Object storage migration strategy
  • Validate intake requests and confirm readiness for migration planning
  • Assess source and target NAS/Object platform readiness
  • Select and validate migration tools (SnapMirror, Datadobi)
  • Build migration sequencing, event calendar, and throughput plans per Client SOPs
  • Provision target storage and configure baseline, incremental, and final syncs
  • Prepare migration waves, automation scripts, and required CHG requests
  • Execute data migration, monitor replication health, and resolve failures
  • Perform final cutover, NFS/SMB activation, and access validation
  • Support post‑migration stabilization, documentation, reporting, and sign‑off

Required Qualifications:

• NetApp ONTAP (Clustered Mode)

• Oracle ZFS

• Object Storage Platforms

  • NetApp StorageGRID
  • Hitachi Content Platform (HCP)

• NAS Protocols: NFS, SMB/CIFS

• Migration Tools: NetApp SnapMirror, Datadobi

Desired Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of enterprise storage experience with hands on involvement in datacenter migrations
  • Strong understanding of NAS and Object storage architectures in large regulated environments
  • Proven experience executing storage migrations using:
  • NetApp SnapMirror
    • Datadobi
    • Hands on expertise with:
  • NetApp ONTAP (Volumes, SVMs, Snapshots, Replication)
  • Oracle ZFS storage platforms
  • Object storage technologies (StorageGRID, HCP)
  • Solid understanding of:
    • NFS/SMB protocols
  • Export policies, ACLs, permissions, and access control models
  • Migration throughput planning and performance optimization
  • Experience working with change management (CHG), Jira, and enterprise tracking tools
  • Strong coordination skills across storage, OS, vendor, and governance teams
  • Excellent communication skills for execution reporting, risk escalation, and stakeholder updates

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a structured, execution‑focused approach
  • Ability to work under strict timelines and during high‑risk cutover windows
  • Experience supporting hypercare and post‑migration stabilization
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting for migration execution (Shell, Python, Ansible – nice to have)
  • Strong vendor management and escalation handling experience
  • Experience working in regulated BFS/financial services environments
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and drive migration execution standards
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and audit‑ready record‑keeping skills
